The Wichita Chamber Chorale presents its much-loved holiday concert “Sounding Joy.” This year’s theme is “An American Christmas.” Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, both at Plymouth Congregational Church, 202 N. Clifton in Wichita.

Experience the richness of Christmas music in the United States, from the sturdy choruses of Colonial New England to the plaintive folksongs of Appalachia, and from the anthems of cathedrals and conservatories to the perennial pop favorites of America’s crooners. The concert features Conrad Susa’s, Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest. These Spanish carols will be accompanied by Guitarist Tom Harder, Harpist Faith O’Neal, and Percussionist Ginger Zyskowski on marimba and vibraphone.

The Wichita Chamber Chorale is lauded as Wichita’s premiere choral ensemble. In July 2010, Dr. Mark Bartel was appointed Artistic Director and Conductor of the Wichita Chamber Chorale-the third artistic director in the choir’s 34-year history. This season he begins his seventh year as Director of Choral Music at Friends University and Conductor of the Singing Quakers. Organist and pianist Julie Warkentin accompanies the WCC ensemble.

Tickets are available at Senseney Music Company, 2300 E Lincoln, Wichita. They may also be purchased online, at the door or by telephone. Call (316) 267-2796 for more information.
