Upcoming Spring 2014 Events and Concerts


April 12 and 13, 2014, the Chorale will present”Songs from the Heartland.”

Enjoy a musical feast of folksongs, hymns, spirituals and popular songs.  The music of the people has been a wellspring for composers of art music and popular musicians Songs from the Heartland poster finalalike, and an inspiration to singers of all ages.  The concert presents music by Kansas composers and songs of the heartland of America, including works by Lawrence composer Forrest Pierce, Kirke Mechem, Stephen Paulus, Aaron Copland and Tarik O’Regan.  The concert features Wichita gospel singer, baritone Earnest Alexander, and mother-son pianists Julie Warkentin and Jesse Warkentin.

Wichita Chamber Chorale continues its outreach and partnership with Wichita-area schools with a focus on Middle School Choirs.  Special guests are Matt Nutter and the Hadley Middle School Choir, Kevin Moler and the Allison Middle School Choir and Jenny Potochnik and Brooks Technology and Fine Arts Middle Magnet Choir.

Both concerts will be at Plymouth Congregational Church, Saturday April 12 at 7:30 pm and Sunday April 13 at 3:00 pm.

Cabaret 2011

The season will conclude on Friday June 6, 2014 with WCC’s annual
Cabaret Fundraiser
 at Prairie Pines, 7:30 pm (Doors open at 6:30 pm).  Broadway and popular tunes are featured as the Chorale showcases its singers in solos, duets, and mixed ensembles for this annual fundraising event.  The relaxed atmosphere of beautiful Prairie Pines adds to the fun, and the evening also includes food & drink, a house band, and a silent auction.

Ticket Prices: $25 general, $15 students.
